About Us
Lake State Recycling (LSR) was founded by Chris Baumgardt and Harley Hanson in 2010 in Nowthen, Minnesota. We started primarily recycling commercial electronic scrap and non-ferrous metals. We've expanded our offerings over the years, with our range of
recycling services now including
e-scrap, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, precious metals, automotive scrap, and catalytic converters. We've also changed locations, moving LSR's operations to a new Elk River, Minnesota facility. Here, we’re able to provide a larger, more convenient space to better service customer needs.
Backed by over 30 years of combined experience in the recycling industry, LSR can professionally and efficiently assist you through the recycling process—no matter what material you have to dispose of.
At Lake State Recycling, we’re dedicated to recycling responsibly and providing the best service possible for our customers. We also believe in providing a safe, supportive environment for our employees who help us carry out that mission each and every day. That’s why we stay certified for health, safety, and sustainability standards.
We’re R2v3 certified, meaning we are specially trained in e-scrap recycling to ensure that end-of-life electronics and their components are handled safely. This allows us to keep clients compliant and eco-friendly when it comes to e-scrap recycling.
ISO 14001 is an internationally agreed set of standards for the requirements of an environmental management system (EMS). Our certification represents our commitment to the environment and sustainable, eco-friendly practices.
ISO 45001 is an international standard for health and safety management in the workplace. LSR’s certification demonstrates our compliance with health and safety laws and our commitment to the well-being of our dedicated team members.
